Join Our FOL Board of Directors

To All Friends of the Library Members,

As has been indicated in our membership meetings and in our newsletters, November is the month in which our general membership chooses individuals to serve on our Board of Directors.

As a 501c3 non-profit organization, we are required to have a Board composed of a President, Vice President, Secretary, Treasurer, and as many At-Large members as determined by our bylaws. Currently, our bylaws allow for a Board with a minimum of five members and a maximum of nine. Each Board member serves for a 3-year term but may elect to serve a total of nine years by requesting re-election at the end of their first term. There are four open positions to fill to reach our maximum of nine.

The responsibilities of the Board are varied, but essentially it ensures that the organization operates in compliance with any federal regulations that apply to non-profits; remains true to our mission of advocating for the library and raising funds to support library programs; and sets policy and procedure for each of the FOL teams.

As President of the Friends of the Library, I urge you to consider applying for Board membership. We need a variety of ideas, talents, interests, and ages to be most effective. Click the button below to download the Nominee Questionnaire.

I will share with you that our new Library Director has said to me more than once that she is stunned by what our FOL group does and how successful we are. Frankly, we do some remarkable things thanks to the time and talent given by our members.

Please feel free to reach out to any of our current Board members if you have questions or concerns about what Board membership requires. Nominee Questionnaires should be returned to our FOL Secretary, Paula Mikula, by October 15th for inclusion on the ballot to be considered at the November 5th meeting. You may scan the questionnaire and email it to Paula at paulaann5025@att.net or you may leave it in an envelope addressed to Paula with staff at the circulation desk at the library.

Again, I ask that you thoughtfully consider serving on the Board. We need your ideas, your energy, and your leadership as we move ever closer to having a new library building.
