Feed to Read Event Benefits The Well Outreach

The Feed to Read program, hosted by the Friends of the Spring Hill Library, donated 333 pounds of food to The Well Outreach on October 20, 2025. 'It's truly a blessing that we get this food and we get to partner with community organizations,'' said Eric Ocha, director of operations as The Well.

The food items were collected by the Friends at their quarterly book sale that took place on Oct. 18 at the Spring Hill Library. About 200 people contributed food at the book sale. For every 3 food donations people received a coupon for a free book at the Quarterly Book Sale.

The Feed to Read event, a perfect example of nonprofits working together, will take place every year, according to Jennifer Pope who organized the event along with Lisa Arnwine, President of the Board if Directors of Friends of the Spring Hill Library.

The Well helps feed 2,200 local families monthly. The organization expects a 16 to 20 percent increase in customers each month, according to Ocha.

''This food will go to families in need when we open the doors tomorrow,'' he said.
